Re: Ofsted report – February 2017
We are writing to share the Ofsted report with all parents and pupils. The report makes clear that the school requires improvement.
As a school community, we have above average results, good pastoral systems, and place positive emphasis on pupils’ personal development and well-being, but we do not have consistently high quality practice, which has led to pupils not making the progress they are capable of. We are determined to address this.
Ofsted have noted that we have constructed ‘sound plans to address areas which need to be improved’ and all at the school are committed to ensuring that the school moves swiftly and surely to high quality outcomes. We are pleased to note that Ofsted recognised the ‘drive and ambition’ that is in place to ensure that this is achieved and want to assure all parents/carers that we will work tirelessly to meet the expectations all rightly have of the school.
We will build on the many strengths that the report identifies. Ofsted advise that our pupils are ‘well cared for through high quality pastoral support’; they ‘behave well’ and benefit from ‘some teaching in the school which is inspirational and intellectually challenging’. We need to ensure that this now translates across the school, so that all pupils do make the progress and achieve the outcomes they are capable of.
We are keen to make the Ofsted report the focus of the next Parent Forum events and you are warmly invited to attend as follows:
Parents of Key Stage 3 pupils – Tuesday March 14th; in the Hall at 6pm.
Parents of Key Stage 4 pupils and sixth formers – Wednesday March 15th; in the Hall at 6pm.
As ever, the Parent Forum events will provide opportunities for open and honest reflection and will be attended by senior leaders and governors.
