The talents of our pupils have been to the fore this week. Drama students performed their devised pieces on Tuesday to an audience of 100 parents, with Miss Breckon noting how proud she was of the commitment the students had shown. Mrs Wood was delighted with the outstanding GCSE Music concert that took place on Wednesday, featuring some truly inspirational performances. Our U-15 Rugby team excelled themselves, narrowly losing out in the final of the Lancashire County Championship. There is always so much activity in a large school and today we have waved off the students and staff attending the Easter Ski Trip. We hope they have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Year 11 parents were in school on Thursday for the second Parents’ Evening of the year, providing a chance to reflect on PPE exams and current progress as well as to focus on revision targets as we approach the summer exam season. Thank you to all who attended.
This week I have been undertaking my Governor duties at West Lancashire College and the Acorns School, appreciating first-hand the important role that Governors play. Thus, we are delighted that Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Brewer will be joining our Governing Body as Parent Governors, both are very warmly welcome.
We all want the students to start the summer term in a determined and positive manner. Please can I stress that we have the highest expectations and all students must be in full and correct uniform. Our uniform policy is clearly listed on the website under the information tab.
I conclude this week’s Blog with the words of Richelle Goodrich: “Easter is the soul’s first taste of Spring.” I wish everyone a restful and enjoyable Easter break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday April 9th for the start of the Summer Term.
