On a warm summer evening it was wonderful to see our Hall full as the new intake parents attended an information evening. Some of the key information focused on our: ICE approach, being an iPad school, our use of ClassCharts, opportunities to get involved, Music tuition and most importantly our commitment to partnership; working together to make the school a happy and positive learning environment where our children can fulfil their potential and achieve their goals. There was some very positive feedback and we look forward to welcoming the new Year 7s on their transition visits.
Our Geographers have also benefited from the glorious weather as they have been undertaking field work this week in the sunshine. If I remember my own Geography field work, I recall lots of rain and actually falling in a river. Fortunately, our students are much better Geographers than me and I know that the staff who have led the work have been very proud of the students and their enthusiasm and effort.
Students have been working hard as the exam season has begun and as we have reached the half-term break the Year 11 stand down date has arrived, prompting some emotional photos of ‘last lessons’, some of which I note have been tweeted! The week’s break is a great time for focused revision and also for students to recharge. All here at school remain fully behind them in their endeavours.
A reminder of some key events on the horizon:
FOOS Quiz on Friday June 8th – all are warmly invited
Parent Forum event on Thursday June 14th – Mrs Brown has emailed the relevant details
Year 7 and 8 Presentation Evening on Thursday June 21st

Whole staff training day (school closed to students) on Friday July 6th
Year 9 and 10 Presentation Evening on Thursday July 12th

I wish everyone a restful and enjoyable half-term break and look forward to seeing the students back for the final half-term on Monday June 4th. In honour of the half-term break, I conclude with the words of Mark Black: “Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax.”
