Organisation

KS3 and KS4

  • There are 10 teaching groups per year group
  • The groups are split into 2 bands – O and S
  • The bands are equal ability with 5 classes on each band

Year 7

  • Pupils are taught in sets for maths and science 
  • Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups for all other subjects

What is History? Core History skills, England before 1066. England from 1066 the Norman Conquest.

Autumn 2

Life in Medieval England, a study of village and town life for ordinary people. The use of Medieval medicine and crime and punishment.

Spring 1

Power and kings in early modern England. The relationship between the church and the king, a study of key individuals, Henry II, Thomas Becket.

Spring 2

Power and the people, how well did kings keep power. Richard II and the Peasants Revolt. What was the the impact of the Black Death.

Summer 1

Focus study: The development of Roman Britain. How did the Roman Empire begin and what made their army so strong.

Summer 2

Focus study: What was life like in Roman Britain, how did the empire spread and why did it collapse?

(Students will work with Trestle masks)

Storytelling
Developing performance skills to communicate a storyline. Includes the use of Narration and sound effects.

Pantomime 1
Learning about the features of Pantomime and applying it to a self devised Panto. Students write their scripts based on their knowledge of Pantomime.

Applying the features of Panto and all taught skills this year to perform a group Pantomime performance.

Food

An introduction to basic practical skills, hygiene and safety, healthy eating and food science

Textiles

An introduction to the sewing machine, and using basic techniques to design and make a gadget stand.

Product Design

An introduction to H&S in the workshop followed by various projects familiarising pupil with tools and materials. Culminating in Y7 Design and Make project.

All pupils study each of these three areas of technology throughout the year on a rotation basis.
