In Design Technology, our aim is to deliver a curriculum that is accessible to all and provides the broadest possible range of opportunities for all pupils. Our main priority is for pupils to be problem solvers who can think for themselves and work both independently (of the teacher) or as part of a team of fellow pupils. We believe that pupils learn best by ‘doing’, so the emphasis is on “participation” whether this be practical work, design work or theory. This is achieved through imaginative teaching that embraces new technologies whilst retaining the best of traditional practices. At the heart of this is the desire to deliver a curriculum in which pupils produce a quality of outcome that matches their highest abilities.
