Headteacher's Blog

Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,

The new school year is well and truly underway and we have “hit the ground running”.  I would like to start by thanking everyone for supporting the school so well in terms of expectations – our young people look very smart, wearing their uniform with pride and starting the new academic year in a positive manner.  Walking round the school has been an absolute pleasure and comments from our young people have been overwhelmingly positive.  Our new Year 7s have settled in to life at Ormskirk School very well - and most of them know how to get around the school better than I do!

This is a crucial year for our school and it has been a great start.  It really is wonderful to see so many young people glad to be back at school – and happy to tell me that they are really happy to be back.

Your continued support for Ormskirk School and what we are doing to rapidly improve, is greatly appreciated and I would personally like to thank all of our parents, guardians and carers for all the lovely emails that have been sent in over the past few weeks in support of the school.

Some wonderful news:

  • We had three young people selected and shortlisted to visit the finals of the science Mission to Mars project in London last weekend.  Their families attended the event and one of our Year 9 pupils won a prize for their entry.  To have three young people from one school invited to a national competition is an achievement in itself…. Winning a category is an amazing achievement!
  • I received a lovely letter from “The Cricketer” magazine confirming Ormskirk School’s inclusion once again in the Cricketer Schools Guide 2020, as one of the Top 100 senior and Top 50 prep schools in the country.  A fabulous achievement for our school.

We had some truly remarkable individual results at GCSE and A Level over the summer and it was wonderful to see our new Year 12s on the first day back – all 126 of them!  This is fantastic news for our school and we are now one of the biggest school 6th Form Colleges in Lancashire.
