Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
We are rapidly approaching the halfway point of the academic year. I would like to thank the whole school community for the support that has been shown towards the school so far, this academic year.
Thanks to all this support our improvement journey continues at a pace. Our young people look really smart in their uniform. Attendance from September 2019 up to 31st January 2020 has improved by 1.5% compared to the same time period for the previous academic year. Attendance of our young people with additional needs has improved by over 3% compared to last academic year and attendance of our pupil premium young people has improved by over 2.5%.
Attendance last week – compared to the same week last academic year – was 4.6% better overall. Attendance of our young people with additional needs last week was 4.3% better and attendance of our pupil premium young people was 6.5% better than the equivalent week last academic year! Thank you for all your support.
Visitors to the school continue to comment how calm and purposeful the school is on a day to day basis. Since the start of the new academic year up to 31st January our fixed term exclusions have been reduced by over 50% and removals from lessons are reduced by over 80% from September - compared to the same time period last academic year.
The whole school review last month was very informative and the improvements made this year were acknowledged. It has given us valuable information to move the school forward.
Our journey is an ongoing one and there is still much more to do. However – I know with your continued support – it will continue.
