Key Stage 4

Years 10 and 11

• Pupils remain in O and S band for English, Maths, Science, RS and PE
• Option subjects run across both bands and there are 4 option columns
• Pupils continue to study Skills for Life in mixed ability groups
• Pupils are taught in sets for English, Maths, Science and RS – English and RS being set together
• Option subjects are mostly mixed ability but some setting occurs if there is more than one group on an option line
• A small group of pupils follow a Learning for Life pathway

Key Stage 5

• There are 6 progress groups in Year 12 and 6 in Year 13
• In Year 12 students choose 3 subjects from 4 option columns
• Students who have not achieved a grade C at GCSE in English and/or maths will continue with these subjects
• The Extended Project is available for year 13 student
• The two main pathways are
  • Traditional A levels
  • Applied A levels/BTEC level 3 courses
• All students follow an enrichment programme
