Career North, a local company, provide our students with high quality careers advice and guidance, our Careers Advisers, Jane Pearson and Fiona Unwin, are available to provide independent careers advice and guidance in the Careers Room by the dining room. They will discuss post-16/18 options and offer students a wide range of impartial information and guidance as well as assist them with their applications. Students can book an appointment with Jane or Fiona through their Progress Tutor.

Students have access to a wide variety of careers based literature in the Careers Room and LRC. Prospectuses from all of the local colleges and training providers are available to students online or to take away, alongside an array of vocational information detailing routes through apprenticeships and traineeships. We also have a range of prospectuses from universities across the country. In addition students have access to computers before school, at break time, lunchtime and after school to research career pathways, compose CVs and fill out application forms online.

Ormskirk School is committed to providing the highest quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance for all students in Years 7-11/13. We will continue to encourage and support our students to access personal development programmes and post-16/18 summer programmes such as the National Citizen Scheme.

  2. To provide good quality information about jobs and careers paths in line with current labour market information.
  3. To address the needs of each student and offer a bespoke careers programme which embeds equality and diversity.
