Dedicated Support

At Ormskirk School we are fully committed to making sure that every child is supported and treated as an individual. We will get to know who they are and what helps them to learn and be happy. Each of our children belong to a tutor group and a house which is their extended family in school, ensuring they feel a part of the whole school community. Students are placed in a tutor group and one of our four houses; April Ashley, Rosa Parks, Emmeline Pankhurst, and Alan Turing. Each year group is led by an enthusiastic and energetic Head of Year. Heads of Year work closely with their team of personal tutors. Tracking progress allows us to provide bespoke support through academic mentoring, whether this be during morning tutorials or through small group/ individual work, ensuring all students are successful in their studies and enjoy their time in school. In addition, every house has a dedicated Assistant Head of Year, who is specifically devoted to providing pastoral, welfare and behavioural support within their year group. Pastoral support at Ormskirk School includes:

  • Responding quickly to issues and ensuring that difficulties are discussed and resolved in the best possible way
  • Behaviour support and management
  • Emotional help and guidance
  • Academic Support
  • Restorative Approaches
  • Peer meditation
  • Links to specialist external agencies when needed
  • Motivational groups
  • Meetings with parents and external agencies
