Introduction
Blended Learning
Teachers will set work for students who are self-isolating. Teachers will direct self-isolating students to this work via ClassCharts, choosing ‘Blended Learning’ from the drop-down menu. In most cases, the work will be on Google Classroom unless students are directed to an external app/website, such as Showbie (see below).
Teachers may also choose to invite isolating students to join a lesson that they are delivering to the rest of the class in the classroom. In this case, the protocols below would apply.
Remote Learning
In the event that a cohort of students is sent home owing to Covid-related staff absence, the school will endeavour to provide a mix of Blended Learning and live lessons online. Teachers will direct students to live lessons via a Google Meet link on Class Charts.
Student protocols when joining live lessons
Students are expected to:
- follow the teacher’s instructions for the lesson
- have cameras switched off
- dress appropriately
- use standard English in any language that is typed as part of the lesson
- mute microphones unless invited to unmute
- ensure that all contributions are relevant to the lesson
- meet deadlines and this will be followed up by the class teacher
Failure to comply with the above or to follow the teacher’s instructions may result in students being removed from the live lesson and further sanctions upon their return to school.
Live lessons will be recorded for Safeguarding purposes.
Student contact with teachers during periods of Blended or Remote Learning
Students can contact their teachers to discuss their work via Class Charts or speak to them in person upon the return to school.
